Win Scanner Virus – Delete the Win Scanner Virus and Uninstall It for Good by Jyjtom
Win Scanner is a slick looking piece of software. It’s so flashy, it looks like it was made by Microsoft. This couldn’t be farther from the case. This is malware that would love to steal your identity, your credit card number, your passwords and sensitive files. We must remove Win Scanner to avoid identity theft and other virus related problems like PC slowdown and pop-ups. We can get rid of this ‘solution’ rather quickly. Let’s find out how.
First of all, if you’re wondering how you were infected, it is usually a download or a streaming video codec that is the culprit. Lately hackers are spreading their viruses through flash videos and phishing attempts such as the recent facebook virus. Merely viewing a questionable website can install codecs into your computer, sending Trojans through security holes, and leaving you with a slow, sick PC.
You will also receive warning messages which you must ignore, as they are being created by this Win Scanner spyware. Here are some examples of these messages: “Warning!
Your computer is being used as spamming machine. You can get sued for spam.Your computer WILL BE DISCONNECTED FORM INTERNET BECAUSE SPAMMING OTHER PCs” and “Your computer might be at risk. Antivirus detects viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. They can (and do) destroy data, format your hard disk or can destroy the BIOS. By destroying the BIOS many times you end up buying a new motherboard or if the bios chip is removable then that chip would need replacing.”
These warning messages are scary, but don’t fall for the tricks of this virus. Whatever you do, don’t buy anything from these crooks. We have to remove this virus either manually or automatically.
To remove Win Scanner manually you will need to open up your PC registry and delete related files in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder. You will then kill related exe processes labeled “securitycenter.exe” and “securityhelper.exe”, followed by deletign related files and directories. A full listing can be found at my website below. Please be warned, however, that manual removal is only for experienced PC technicians. A single registry mistake by a beginner can result in a paperweight for a computer. We don’t want to be spending hundreds of dollars in repairs.
