Buyers Guide – Why LG Windows Mobile Phones Are Choice

One of the forerunners of the Windows operating system for mobile phones is electronics giant LG, which committed itself in 2009 to using Windows Mobile as the primary operating system for its smartphones and promised to significantly increase the production and distribution of them in the years to come. Microsoft and LG also agreed to create joint research and development to work on their evolution.

Microsoft has recently replaced its Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system with Windows 7, taking LG Windows mobile phones to a new level with the Optimus 7.

If you’re a lover of the trusted LG brand and are looking to get a new mobile phone, the following guide will help you get to grips with the new Optimus 7 and explain why the Windows Phone OS is a smart way to go.

Main Features of Windows Phone 7

Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 7 operating system outpaces its Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 predecessors – this latest offering is ultra streamlined, user-friendly and fast.

A crucial factor of this new OS that makes it stand out is its minimum spec requirements when it comes to mobile phone manufacturing – every Windows Phone 7 device must at the very least have a 1GHz processor, 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen using WVGA resolution (480?800), 8GB internal storage and a 5-megapixel camera with flash. By any usual smartphone rating, these features would be high-end, whereas for Windows Phone 7 they are merely the standard basics to guarantee a top notch user experience.

When it comes to looks, from the moment you switch on a Windows Phone, it doesn’t disappoint. Whether you choose the white or the black theme, the revamped interface is vivid and engaging with an excellent set of manual controls to choose from.

Unlike the iPhone, a hardware camera button on all Windows Phone 7 handsets launches the camera even if the phone is locked with the screen off. This allows you to take photos as fast as on most digital cameras.

Another key feature is the touch screen. It detects your key presses as fast as you can type and corrects words accurately nearly every time (even if you only hit a couple of the correct letters). Conveniently, the touch area assigned to a key gets bigger if it’s one you’re more likely to type next, which increases accuracy.

The new Windows Phone finally allows you to sync your Microsoft online calendar, contacts services and emails with your mobile handset. It also has an accurate People hub which will match people across Facebook, Exchange, Windows Live and Gmail; as well as suggesting contact matches it’s not sure about.

Windows Phone is the first to deliver seamless integration when it comes to content from various sources. Instead of having to jump from app to app scanning for what you want, you can now have all your content and information together where it belongs.

As for gaming, this is another one of the Windows Phone strengths – it effectively combines a fast processor and hardware graphics acceleration, plus the responsive touch interface and familiar development tools which allow it to tackle advanced games such as Xbox Live Achievements and Avatar.

While Windows 7 handsets do not come cheap, the good news is that LG’s Optimus 7 is one of the cheapest Windows phones you can buy. This combined with the reliable, tried and tested LG brand, makes it a hot contender on the current mobile phone market.

Why the LG Optimus 7 Stands Out

Most impressively, the LG Optimus 7 boasts a whopping 16GB internal memory capability. This is compared to most Windows Phone 7 handset devices which only offer 8GB, including ones that are more expensive. The internal memory counts a great deal when using a Windows Phone 7 mobile phone because like the iPhones, they don’t allow for a memory upgrade via a microSD card slot. And for those who enjoy using their mobile as an MP3 or video player, extra memory is a must.

Apart from having an excellent media storage capability, the LG Optimus 7 is also a whizz at streaming data. It offers built-in DLNA apps which let you easily stream media to other DLNA-compatible devices. To explain what this means, DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance, which creates a standard used by manufacturers of consumer electronics to allow entertainment devices within the home to share their content with each other across a home network. Thus, most new TVs are DLNA-compatible, as are most current generation consoles.

A further notable feature exclusive to the Optimus 7 is an Augmented Reality/Search application called ScanSearch. It has a wow factor in that it takes your position from a GPS sensor in your phone then performs a local search for that place in Google or Bing to produce a live camera feed in your phone display of various places of interest, such as Hotels, Restaurants, Banks/ATM’s, etc. ScanSearch also uses an inbuilt compass to pin point which direction your handset is facing – as you move the phone around, the interesting places in the direction your camera happens to be pointing at automatically pop up on screen.

Conclusion

The above guide outlines some of the major features that make the Windows Phone and LG Optimus 7 stand out from the crowd. In a nutshell, Microsoft’s new operating system for
LG Windows mobile phones
is set to be a winner.
